I don't see HDR competing where cable is available. There is no reason that a cable modem should cost much more than an HDR modem.

Actually, getting a cable modem installed can big a pain in the rear. Scheduling the cable guy, waiting, etc. Even then, they often have to run more cable to the house (I never quite figured out why). Then, you have network problems.

Waited several months at my old house to get a cable modem. 3 trips, more cable, 2 people sitting around for 1/2 day, etc. It worked for 4 days and then I asked the cable company to rip out because it would not work with Eudora (and there were other problems)!
