Arthur and others,

I have been hearing more and more about how Index Funds are now a bad idea. This I do not understand. According to IBD guru William O'Neil most stocks do not outperform the major indexes so why bother trying to find a bunch of "winners"?? This applies to investors NOT traders.

I think SOME money should be LTBH in index funds of some sort governed by the investors objectives.

The industry seems to be pushing managed funds now saying they will beat the indexes....maybe, but how about fees, etc.??...they never talk about that. It is well known that most managers can not and do not beat the indexes year after year and if they do it certainly is not by much simply because of what O'Neil says.
