Yup, I am very familiar with this thesis and am even a "subscriber" to the idea!!!

But this time it's different??? How wonderful it is to say THAT!!! The question: How is it different?

Unless production output, now at 1% annual increase, gets back to pre-1997 levels of 7% and more, we just don't have a prayer of a sustained rally!

The tech drivers, just aren't... even though they have been diverging (positively) with the general markets.

And the consumption levels are just not there, but in the tank with the rest of the market.

The ONLY bright light (and it may just have a dark side) is that the commodity indices seem to be faltering. The dark side is that we may be entering a period of deflation and with little production increase, that tells me stagflation is a real possibility!
