NTAP Killer? Hmmm... it remains to be seen.

I wonder though... isn't the "REAL" bottleneck the disk latencies caused by excessive disk seeks? I mean, unless they've redesigned a new file system to eliminate this I can't understand how much faster they'll really be? Isn't this the same thing Auspex did with custom ASICS? The only difference is BlueArc is using FPGA's which are cheaper to test and have quicker turn-around when a bug is discovered. What about Native multiprotocol, snapshots, snapmirror. What RAID level (if any) are they running when getting 10x performance?

Actually, the only solution for this product might be for production houses which are doing video editing or applications which require fast sequential disk access (with RAID turned off of course.)
