Sadly Mike, it does not amaze me. If 48% can vote for the principles of Sore and Loserman then thinking that technological ignorance is an 85% or more state of reality seems reasonable. Comprehending abstract science. Life in America and success in America needs no understanding of technology. Engineering is also about creating no brain solutions. Good engineering solutions are are based an the assumption of a retarded client. More and more intelligence is embedded in the smaller and smaller. More and more have the crutch of a solution at the touch of a button. The fun of engineering is creating solutions for the really really stupid and being amazed at how ingenious people are at stupidly ignoring the obvious.
