I agree. We also should create a new class of doctors who are somewhere between nurses and doctors. They could handle the emergency wards where minor injuries and other accidents happen. When they have any question they could then turn it over to a regular doctor. A perfect solution ? No, but if you have read some of the alarming number of deaths created each year in hospitals due to medical error, they certainly haven't got anything to boast about.
