Bush is paying a heavy political price in the suburbs for his right wing extremist views on environmental protection. Case in point: Jennifer Dunn's 8th Congressional District in the wealthy, affluent east side of Seattle metro area. Al Gore carried this heavily Republican District by 10,000 votes. Environmental protection cost Bush a lot of votes in this district. People in the suburbs do want less arsenic in their drinking water. They do want an answer to global warming. They do want more responsible logging practices. Bush is costing Republican Congressional candidates lots of votes in these traditional Republican districts.
