hi joe

i use three firewalls, but mcafee is not one of them.

sure sounds like a basic configuration issue you are dealing with. you did right to contact their tech support, but it sounds as though they aren't beating down your doors with responses. you can look for readme files and release notes that may address know issues. but in reading your post, it looks as though you have uninstalled the firewall and canceled a subscription. that correct?

given your obvious troubles with the firewall, if i were in your shoes i'd forget about mcafee and look at zonealarm for right now. free and easy to install.

we've covered the topic of firewalls here from time to time. hopefully you have viewed a few of those posts. if you need more ideas and suggestions on how to proceed, just holler.

but if i'm you, i'm saying adios to mcafee, based on what you've told me so far. perhaps some super happy mcafee user will post to us and assist you in configuring the permissions and rules to allow FTP.

good luck

:)
