I disagree about the implied cause/effect here. I don't care about stocks in general. Personally I buy specific stocks. Their fortunes might respond somewhat directly to savings level. But the main driver is general economy and their technical and business execution. I will stay fully invested in my stock picks. Which has done well for me so far this year [edit ... delete %]. My main concern is the level of employment, considering all the announced layoffs, and coming bankruptcies in the failed dotcom employers.
