You know, I received a great PM from an SI poster today that referenced being terrified to be in middle age and to see half of one's net worth wiped out ... and still going. The ramifications of such a situation are staggering. Reading it, I realize that what I have lost ... to some degree (it's not all gone!) ... is the feeling of competence. I'm consciously struggling to maintain my confidence in my competence. Exacerbating matters <g> is being forced to come to grips with the grim, to me, realization that the notion that I am in control of my life was idealistic and foolhardy, really. Financial independence is what it takes, and I'm not sure at all now if or when I'll ever achieve it. Just "Porchin'" ... bia
