I was also turned down for a credit card for the same reason. Damnedest thing, right after I got turned down for the card, my wife, who was going to college with me as her whole support, got the card in the mail, pre approved, with out her applying for it. It was a GM card which is why I drive a Jeep instead of a Tahoe.
