Yes but those studying it may not live in the real world.

I love looking at the ecology of the world. On a recent trip to Florida I noticed many trees with the roots washed out. Global warming came to mind. Further inquiry showed Hurricane Andrew moved the sand bars and changed the currents. Gotta look at the big picture.
