With all due respect Tony, and a lot is indeed due, I would have never thought someone like you would make such an illogical post.
Re <<This turns it all the more into a love-in as some call it, as neutral or rival-opinionated people decide to avoid posting here>>
Why? Does anyone in their right mind think that posting bearish thought on AMD results in getting banned from this thread? If so, where would someone get such an absurd idea? I have tried to define the rules and make suggestion so as few people as possible get banned, and I think by all accounts that has been the case.
Here are a few things people should keep in mind before resorting to hollow rhetoric:
-Paul Engle has been the ONLY "pro Intel" poster that has EVER been banned from posting. Same number as "pro AMD" poster.
-This thread was started on July 5th, that is 9 months ago. Of these 9 months, only 6 weeks has there even a SINGLE person banned from posting.
-Total of only 4 people have ever been banned, two of which posted only a few times and their posts had absolutely nothing to do with either AMD or Intel
Re <<not the idea of an Internet posting board as I envision it>>
I never envisioned a posting board as an electronic bathroom stalls. What is so foul about the idea of grown adults wanting to exchange thoughts about a topic without tolerating being called nasty names by someone who disagrees? I envisioned this board to be a place where people discuss issues and topics that can make AMD?s stock to go higher or lower, without personal attack. You can attack Jerry Sanders or AMD management all you want. You can trash AMD?s product all you want, as those are very valid points. But you must adhere to the civility that is expected of all grown adult in our culture.
Re << The 2/3 vote to ban is more like it would be in any other "punishment" type activity in the world. Jury has unanimous requirement, impossible here, but just noting it.>>
There is one thing I know for sure, and that is there is no way to keep everyone happy. If some one like Kash or Stribe or whoever, want a different voting rules, then they are more than welcome to take that initiative and do it. If they can establish another method that the threads agree with, I am more than willing to implement those as far as they do the extra work regarding counting votes and so forth. But I simply do not have the time to do more than what I originally agreed to do.
I can guarantee one thing, and that is if AMD heads south and Intel heads north, all Intel folks will be all over the moderated thread claiming their vast wisdom. Considering Intel's dismal performance, only Paul has had the balls to do this, and unfortunately he is seldom willing to stick to the requirements. Too bad!
