General LED stuff, FYI
The LED Light - theledlight.com
Hello LED Afficiandos!
It's been a very busy February and March with many new items being added while we have been working on the newer items still to come. We are also planning to move the business to Fallon, Nevada in the coming month so things got a bit hectic. Watch for our notice on this move.
We are late again, so let's get to it!
As many of you already know, we have a super, complete and ready to install 12vdc on/off dimmer switch to control up to 150 LEDs/1500 milliamps. This great, convenient device also includes a wall plate for wall or enclosure mounting. Use it for your next project or with any of our fixtures and arrays. theledlight.com
We have now increased the number of discrete LED available; red, yellow and orange, 8 degree models with mcd ranging from 8,000 to 10,000mcd. This month, we have added a blue-green (4200mcd) with the same characteristics of the blues and greens. There is also a new red, yellow and orange in 30 degrees rated for 2200mcd plus at 50mA. Don't let the mcd rating fool you as these are the same LEDs used in our brake and turn signal LED bulbs. theledlight.com
Motorcycle, auto, RV and truck LED brake and turn signal lights are available. These #1156 and #1157 bulbs are drop-in replacements for any enclosure that will accept the bulb's dimensions. The #1156 bulbs are for single function running or parking lights. The #1157s are a combination brake & parking light bulbs, and turn signal & parking light bulbs. Red and yellow LEDs are used to minimize pricing, AND to deepen the color and brighness of a red or yellow lens. The bulbs are available with 30 or 40 LEDs per bulb. theledlight.com
The LED Light is now including our own TLL Energy Wise line of LED fixtures which includes lamps, lanterns, ceiling and wall fixtures, a 12vdc utility light and a 12vdc Red LED flasher. These are good looking lights that have the range of power for most any task. The Energy Wise units require their own transformer built to allow plug-in 120vac operation which is included in the price. We hope to expand this line in the coming monthswith more options to lighting. theledlight.com for the flasher; theledlight.com for the other LED fixtures.
The PEZ 3 LED bulb, theledlight.com, for Petzl Zoom and Megas have been temporarily removed due to a fault in the assembly. We will have this corrected and the bulbs will be available again next week.
If you have purchased a PEZ bulb since March 1, 2001 and have not been able to correctly install the reflector over the bulb, please return them along with a copy of your receipt. We will replace them at no charge. Call (702-657-6913) or email (help@theledlight.com) us if you cannot locate your invoice.
In trying to keep in step with the times, we have finally been able to completely re-do the Power Stations that will reliably meet the need for brown-outs, "California" rolling black-outs and emergency lighting, as well as for other uses. These 5 watt and 10 watt solar powered light systems are ideal as they are matched to specific light fixtures that a majority of you look for and will find to be properly sized. If you are handy and have other uses for these set ups, then they also come in kit form with no assembly/enclosure. theledlight.com
And don't forget cooling needs too! We have the right size solar powered vent fans to remove stale and heated air from your attic, garage, shed, greenhouse and other enclosures. Keep cool this summer with a reversible switch (from your local electrical distributor) to bring in fresh, cool air without commercial electicity. Mount these fans on a 2x4 frame and place them where it's advantageous. theledlight.com
Flashlights! What more can we say. Everyone will want or need one and we have the best of the crop. The two-in-one security tool, the Baton Light (http://www.theledlight.com/batonlite.html) is fast becoming a favorite. Lightweight, bright and very tough, this 5.5" long machined aluminum flashlight will last forever. This light is for everyone, not just for security, military, police and other safety personnel.
The OneStar has been added to the PALight family. Here is the only clear, bright and defined beam pattern LED light. This single LED light has NO dark spots, odd shaped beam patterns or rings! OneStars use the Nichia 5mm, 5600mcd white LED for brighness, and is still boosted with Light Technology's patented integrated circuit to offer 7 light levels! A lanyard that is to be inserted into the bottom case is available. theledlight.com
For PALight fans, we now have a great lanyard with a replacement bottom case that has two corner holes where the lanyard is attached to. Simply remove the current bottom case and slip in the new one with the included lanyard. Now it won't drop and break accidentially. For both the PALights and the OneStar, there is a two-piece magnet accessory that allows you to clip your light to a bike's handle bar, or use it to store/hold the light on a bar or flat metal surface. theledlight.com
The super bright Stylus now has an accessory that will eliminate light side spill. The "Glare Guard" will not reduce light volume nor reduce intensity, and will protect the LED from scratches. Check it out. theledlight.com
Keychain LED lights! Who can't use one on the purse zipper, on the keychain, the back pack, the gear bag, your child's school bag/pack. Always affordable and moreso now. From the builders of the Infinity Task Light comes the 0-4 keychain light, theledlight.com. This is the toughest looking keychain light we know of. Feels great to handle, is simple in design for long service, bright as, if not brighter than the other single LED lights, and it's waterproof. Weighs in at less than 0.5 ounce! At $17.00, it will always be a Best Buy!
And hey, let's not forget the Photon Micro Light family! They have a Rav'n Party Light in three LED colors (red, blue, green) due the end of April. At about the same time, there will be a 7 function/mode Photon III with the sliding on/off switch as found in the Photon IIs. A month later, we will have the "Fusion", a 6 LED headlamp/handheld/table lamp combination utilizing the new Photon III's 7 mode/functions. You can always count on Photon for improvements and progressive additions to their line of great LED lights. Check back to see these new wonders. theledlight.com
Now for the coup of the day! A Xenon flashlight that beats the heck out of 2 cell focusing flashlights. Brighter and lighter in weight, the two models fit confortably in your hand, are easy to turn on/off and will run longer on a set of aklaine batteries than the competition. Best features: barely visible dark spots or rings in the beam pattern, and the 2C model will not change the beam focus when turning it on/off. Check into the Bison, the only NON-LED flashlight we stock! theledlight.com
If these new lights aren't enough, stay glued to The LED Light. We have plans for some additions that will blow you away! A 10 LED, a 14 LED and a 19 LED flashlight are coming down the pike in a month or so. If they can't fill your quest for the brightest LED lights, we don't know what will!
The 10 LED models will be only water resistant. The 14 and 19 LED models will be water proof to 1000 feet! We will have more news on these as they are passed on to us.
We hear every so often that there are brighter white LEDs on the market than those we sell. Folks, there are none as yet! We hope that there will be an improved 5mm model that will be able to seriously challenge the Xenons and Halogens, not in brightness .. already there, but in volume for more distance. When this happens, you can bet that they will replace all standard flashlights and some of the specialties. We also expect the cost of white LEDs to be reduced more than they have to allow greater access to these wonderful light sources.
Meanwhile, watch out for words and terms such as super bright, Ultra, Ultra bright and so on. They are misleading! If you want to squeeze out more mcds from the 5600mcd white LED, tweak the applied current a few mA at a time, and/or increase the voltage slowly to reach the maximum level the LED will accept without deterioration. The more power applied, the shorter the life. Some folks are playing with very rapid pulsing to give the appearance that the light is brighter. At a given rate, the lights appears to be constantly on insted of pulsing on and off. Neat trick.
The LED Light gets bogged down in daily details and we find it hard to stick our head above the pile of paper work to search for quality and reliable sources for technical information and "how-to" articles. If you know of any that we should consider having links to, please forward the URL to us for review. We'd greatly appreciate your help in maintaining a website that is informative as well as a great "candy store"!
Thank you until next time.
