Very well put. There are indeed many variables. Correct testing is a tedious and time consuming process but is absolutely imparative if you are going trade. I believe many people put up two price charts with two systems and then just run through alot of stocks. They try to eyeball the numbers as the different stocks fly by. This can give you the absolute wrong feel for a system and is a good way to give away your money. This is not quantitative but I know people do it. I did for a long time. Someone should do a paper on the topic.<g>
