I have no idea. But I do know that in 1996 or 1997 Intel made announcements they will enter the communication chip market (which was dominated by 3Com). Intel abandoned it after a while. Then they announced they will enter the embedded processor and software market. Which they abandoned. Then they tried to dominate the flash memory market with some standard for pcmcia cards. Which was displaced by an open standard that Sandisk uses. As far as I see, Intel is not a fore-ordained winner. Recall they did abandon the DRAM business some years ago.
