What environmentalist is saying we should go back to caves? I don't think anyone is saying that.

I do not see why responsible nuclear energy cannot be had.

It's simple: because there is *no* "responsible" nuclear energy. It is nonexistent. The waste from nuclear power plants is very real, and it's simply impossible to ensure its 100% safety. One major earthquake, and nuclear plants are a serious threat. One train wreck w/ a load of nuclear waste, and we are in serious trouble. The risks simply far outweigh the benefits. We love to *believe* that we can control something 100%, "man over nature" sort of thinking, but reality is that accidents happen, and an accident w/ nuclear waste would be a disaster... or do we need more lessons besides Mile Island and Chernobyl??
