Alpha Launches Breakthrough Switch/Filter Technology for Wireless Handsets New aiIP(TM)Solution Allows OEMs to Shorten Time-to-Market by Integrating Multiple RF Semiconductor Components in a Single, Module-based Platform WOBURN, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 2, 2001-- Alpha Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq: AHAA - news) announced today that it has introduced state-of-the-art switch/filter technology for wireless handsets. The switch/filter products combine multiple functions in a single, module-based platform. These products are based on the Company's Alpha Integration Platform(TM) (aiIP(TM)), a proprietary technique for the design, simulation, packaging and testing of RF modules.
``Alpha's proprietary switch/filter technology gives our OEM customers tremendous time-to-market and cost advantages,'' said Dave Fryklund, general manager of Alpha's Control business unit. ``By integrating passive and filter functions into a single module, Alpha is providing simplified, `black box' functionality that enables our customers to enhance product performance while occupying a much smaller footprint. That translates to dramatically reduced design and manufacturing lead times and faster time-to-market for next-generation products.
``Alpha's design team is doing an outstanding job in mobilizing all of our assets,'' Fryklund continued. ``These include semiconductor technology, high-density, multi-layer packaging and high-volume manufacturing. This is a tremendous advantage for Alpha as we work to meet the needs of a rapidly expanding global roster of OEM customers in the wireless handset and infrastructure markets.''
