Eric L: Both contracts appear to be bought.

Nokia will be using heavy "vendor financing", no?

So great business but low profit it would appear.

And the greatest irony of all is that Nokia is still proceeding without a license for infrastructure for any version of CDMA from Qualcomm.

When and how will that glitch be repaired?

Assume Nokia plans on keeping the UMTS (W-CDMA) element inoperative as long as possible to delay commercial operation which would trigger paying Qualcomm for a license and royalties if it has obtained the necessary license by that time.

Seems just a bit shortsighted, but then this is a well managed company so it must know what it is doing, yes?

Best.

Chaz

PS Any clue what Nokia (conspicuous by its absence so far) plans for its participation in the new CDMA network in China?
