Nig,
You are rapidly accumulating negative points. Watch out. :) <<If you really wanted to irritate Miljenko, you could suggest REGN. I could not possibly comment, of course.>>
How could you even think about?
PS: I will give away all my TTP shares if one want to pay 3X today price? <g>
To clarify (let me try) what have I in mind with consolidation-COMBINE, I will first re-post Spekulatius last paragraph: Message 15602714
"Most of these biotechs will survive, even without merger but this does not mean that they shouldn't merger. Good science can be made better with synergy, gaps can be filled and risks can be spread. This would increase shareholder values industrywide (the ego's of the scientists and CEO's permitting)...Enough said!"
Second, let revisit ALKS munch of the AIR in 98.
In 98 ALKS polymer delivery technology sound as good one with many opportunities. However, Pops expanded business model by adding pulmonary delivery technology and paid high price ($100 M) for WS unknown private company, AIR. How visionary he was? Or just lucky?
Today, when ALKS polymer delivery technology did show limitation, AIR contributes at least 1/2 to total ALKS MC. As of today it is worth ~$700M. This I call investor return. Not necessary to say that AIR actually saved ALKS from significant decline in MC and help bring additional finance in "00.
The question is would AIR as independent company do better in this period? I certainly do not have answer on this, but AIR investors were able to sell at 2-3X today stock price and make multiple-10X returns Point is that both companies did profit from this merge.
So, merge in the right field, at the right time, at the right price, at...well,..
I am not qualified or capable to suggest any merge in real world. I will leave this to those who are pay (fat one) for.
