TO ALL...VERY IMPORTANT!!! If you have not filed your tax returns yet for 2000, talk to you tax advisor and tell him/her that you are interested in making a Section 475 election. This would allow you to qualify for ordinary loss treatment. The tax rules were changed in '97 and it is not as difficult as you may think to qualify for this.
