Sharp, All businesses run on software, even in the oil patch. I tend to agree with you that ORCL, MSFT and NOVL probably aren't the place to play the software industry in this market. However, one should keep in mind that these companies provide the essential tools that allow businesses of all forms, sizes and industries to maintain their information flow. From general accounting and business systems to engineering, from customer relationship management to employee/human resources, good software allows employees to focus on their jobs, not on the paperwork associated with those tasks. Just thought I'd add a programmer's perspective<vbg>.
