More probable is that this sub was called to port in order to make preparations for potential hostilities between the US and China.

And don't misunderstand what I trying to say. This would be a normal response and implementation of a contingency plan as a result of our servicemen being held hostage by the Chinese military (which is competing for political dominance in Bejing).

I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that China's military leadership are effectively holding them hostage and trying to extract demands from both the US, and the civilian politicians. And they are definitely trying to link arms sales to Taiwan to an early release of our people.

And this is just indicative of the instability inherent in China's current government. No one seems truly to be in control of the military there.

And if this gets carried away too far, I'm sure that the transcripts of the interception will find their way into the public light, just as they did with KAL 007 (which was shot down after being mistaken for another US spyplane).

Regards,

Ron
