I believe you would eliminate 90% of these crimes(which are related to the high cost of the drugs) if you made drugs non-criminal. How many murders, burglaries, rapes are committed by people high on alcohol or seeking alcohol??

Alcohol is a big factor is spousal abuse. Also just about every college campus has a problem with alcohol related crime (e.g. date rape, assault, etc...). I don't have any statistics to back this up, but it also seems that every high crime area that I know of has a large number of liquor stores.

Bottom line legalization isn't going to fix the drug problem.
