EP-3 is a Navy aircraft. IMHO the pilot should be court martialled for his action. The plane was 70 miles or about 20-30 minutes from the destination Chinese air field so there was plenty of time to dump the secret gear. Better yet, the crew should have bailed out and the air craft ditched - with some risk. Unlike the sub incident, this guy had time to evaluate alternatives and he chose the worst option. China claaims air space beyond 12 miles as do some other countries. We routinely challenge it with such flights. We have lost planes on this type of mission in the past. Crew should have had better plans.
