Monty, not high enough imo. betrays very little concern when compared to the actual percentage moves the market has dished up lately. in '87 the 40 VIX was the 'springboard' value. i'm not saying we'll see the extreme of '87 again (173), but i'd expect at least a spike over 60 to mark a capitulation low.
