OT Re: THe P-3 is one heck of an aircraft. It, along with the C -130 are the best turboprops ever built.

P-3 is a wonderful four engined turboprop transport. But expecting us to believe that a lumbering P-3 "ran over" a Chinese fighter, a quicker , more agile, and much faster aircraft than the P-3, stretches the credability of the news story.

Perhaps the Chinese are using the incident to measure the will of the new President.


I was writing a very similar post as I read this. My take - on the credibility of the situation and the motivation of the Chinese - is precisely that.

BTW, I have Sawyer's _The Seven Military Classics of Ancient China_ sitting on my desk. (Next to Machiavelli ... required reading for IT folks. <vbg>) This is the type of "testing" of a possible adversary advocated - except incompetently executed.
