MILPITAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 9, 1997--Storage Dimensions (NASDAQ:STDM) today extended its family of high-speed network backup solutions with the introduction of JETArray(TM) DLT7000, the industry's first DLT(TM)7000 tape array with RAID fault-tolerance. With up to 210 GB of RAID 5 capacity, and performance up to 54 GB per hour, JETArray DLT7000 is ideally suited for organizations with high-capacity super servers that require high-speed and guaranteed backup. JETArray DLT7000 is also an optimum solution for disaster recovery with the ability to recover data up to 15 times faster than traditional DAT and 8mm tape mechanisms. The system supports NetWare and Windows NT.
"The trend toward consolidation of data onto super servers has raised the speed and data protection requirements of server backup to levels that cannot be met by traditional backup systems," said Rich Bruklis, tape product marketing manager for Storage Dimensions. "JETArray DLT7000 is ideal for these high-end backup environments because it provides the speed, capacity, fault tolerance, and fast recovery needed to meet the growing demands."
High-speed JETArray DLT7000 Ensures Full Nightly Backup
JETArray DLT7000 offers high-speed backup and RAID protection for NetWare and NT users who require full nightly backup of high-capacity servers within a short time period. This system combines Storage Dimensions' high-performance MegaFlex(TM) storage enclosure with DLT7000 drives and RAID and image backup software from Cheyenne.
JETArray DLT7000 is the fastest fault-tolerant backup system available, reaching speeds of up to 54 GB per hour (RAID 5) or as much as 15 times that of traditional DAT and 8mm solutions. The 210 GB system achieves its high rate of speed by capturing a direct image of the disk content rather than copying data file by file. For RAID fault tolerance, JETArray DLT7000 supports RAID levels 0, 1, 0+1, and 5.
The high-availability JETArray DLT7000 enclosure features redundant, hot-swappable power supplies and cooling fans plus dual-locking power cords.
JETArray DLT7000 Makes Recovery Fast and Easy
The high speed of JETArray DLT7000 ensures fast recovery, minimizing costly downtime which typically ranges from $10,000 to $100,000 per hour according to a study conducted by Santa Barbara-based research firm Peripheral Concepts. In addition, JETArray DLT7000 is configured with Cheyenne's RAID, image, and disaster recovery software products for NetWare and Windows NT to provide the industry's most efficient option for disaster recovery. Cheyenne's software takes the guesswork out of restoring a system structure by automatically recreating data partitions and volumes and loading appropriate drivers, a process that would take hours using manual recreation. The Cheyenne software enables a system administrator to save an exact duplicate of the system structure on a safely stored set of disks for automatic backup restoration if a disaster occurs.
Broad Line of DLT Product Offerings
Storage Dimensions provides one of the broadest lines of DLT product offerings. The growing product family includes DLT7000, DLT(TM)4000 and DLT(TM)2000XT models of the JETArray(TM), MegaFlex TapeArray(TM), and the single-tape subsystems. Rounding out the DLT offering is a seven-tape DLT(TM)4700 Library with up to 280 GB of capacity. -0- *T
