Do you know that the 1929 recession was compounded by the Fed taking a stupid stance on the face of all economic data, much as Bush insists on passing a tax cut on budget surplus that in all likelihood won't be there five years hence?

Besides the fact that the existence or non-existence of budget surpluses is far from out of the government's control (in a nutshell the secret is, "don't spend so frigging much!"), it would be quite ironic, if a tax cut triggered the next Great Depression, given that it was a tax increase that caused the last one.
