We did invest a lot of money in Germany that really went to money heaven.

I need to really understand gold sterilization. Apparently not only was the US a gold magnet after WWI but so was France. Germany and England were not.

Maybe it was something like now, or recently, the US market sucked in everything that wasn't nailed down all over the world.
