Just because you do not understand economics doesn't mean that the policy is wrong. You don't "pay off the national debt", you outgrow it. You don't "invest" money you have stolen from the productive sector, you pay it back (leave out the apologies if it makes you "feel" better).

This recession is the result of eight years of onerous regulation, government intrusion, an anti-energy policy, and overtaxation. The only medicine is to reverse all that. It doesn't work in a week. Clinton spent 8 years creating this mess. But it does work faster than most people think.

As for Greenspan, Josif Stalin must have known about him. For he once said, "There are some men for whom four walls is too many by three."
