Hi Racer,
This is a record! You usually do not go this many statements before I disagree with you. Actually I am using your follow up to bounce off of. I hope you do not mind. Statement (1) is reasonable. Statement (2) is cynical and crass beyond your (or my) years. Statement (3) harkens back to the (cost of doing business post -- not made by yourself) and I think that (short or long) this kind of attitude should stop in this country. I refuse to sanction criminal activity on any front!
It is not the COST OF DOING BUSINESS to break the law! IF JR has broken the law and is convicted then -- I hope he is punished. To say that a broker can cheat or try to distroy a company and it is just the cost of doing business is disgusting!
The fact that Merril Lynch or other brokers with many employees, have a bad apple doesn't tarnish the firm as long as they get rid of them. But, the individual against whom the suit was brought and won is slime.
I know, from being in business for more years than I care to think about, that things can get to seem "grey", but in reality that is bull!
My biggest trepidations about this company, quite frankly, come from JR's brokerage practices.
My post is not aimed at anyone in particular. I want everyone to think about the issues. I have been more alarmed by the recent defensive posts on all sides than about anything else. I can make more money, but, if we do not agree on points of decency and law, then, I just have to go buy ammunition -- I have no choice. This is not a palatable option!
G.D. Being a crook -- on either side -- is not a cost of doing business!
