Healthaxis Solutions to be Featured on 'The Next Wave with Leonard Nimoy'
EAST NORRITON, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 4, 2001--Healthaxis Inc. (NASDAQ:HAXS - news), announced today that its Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Rich Grehalva, will be a featured guest on the nationally syndicated television program, ``The Next Wave,'' hosted by Leonard Nimoy, better known to millions as Star Trek's Mr. Spock.
The series covers an array of topics defining the new economic landscape: from e-commerce and online financial services, to the technical issues of convergence, infrastructure, and telephony; from what's new in digital publishing and content creation, to the challenges of creating web-based solutions for an enterprise.
Mr. Grehalva's discussion focuses primarily on Healthaxis' Insur-Web connectivity application which can help healthcare organizations reduce costs, improve service, engage their e-commerce initiatives, and solve some of their HIPAA compliance, (The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), requirements.
A filmed visit to Healthaxis' customer, National Claims Administrative Services, based in Fairfax, Virginia, and interviews with both their VP of Operations and their Customer Service Supervisor, illustrated how Healthaxis solutions are providing these services to customers today.
The program has completed taping and will air on CNBC on Sunday, April 8th at 3:00 P.M. (EDT), reaching 68 million television households. In addition, video clips from the show will be shown on the program's website, nextwavetv.com.
The program has a conversational format. Mr. Nimoy facilitates discussions with top corporate leaders and industry experts from the major trade publications. They explore the technology issues impacting business today and offer solutions that will take these businesses successfully into the new millennium.
Said Marianne Feher, Associate Producer of the program, ``It was evident that Healthaxis was an appropriate fit for the stories we were producing on healthcare solutions. We were looking for Mr. Grehalva's insights and some education on the solutions that Healthaxis provides.''
Mr. Grehalva's comments included a company overview of Healthaxis as well as a brief recap of its suite of products. Particular attention was paid to HIPAA, which Mr. Grehalva described as, ``daunting, but absolutely achievable.'' He referenced how Insur-Web, in addition to providing a HIPAA solution, also web-enables organizations, giving members, employees, and employers self-service access to their health plan documents and information.
In response to questions about the Internet, Mr. Grehalva quoted Scott McNealy, CEO of Sun Microsystems. ``If you think dot-com means a start up, think again. General Electric is a dot-com company. So are Ford and General Motors. If you think dot-com means selling goods over the Net, you're only partly right. In reality, it's a more cost-effective way to run nearly every aspect of your company. It's all about moving business processes to open Internet standards to streamline interactions with customers, suppliers, and partners, and your own employees.''
Grehalva went on to point out, ``Healthcare is also becoming a dot-com much in the way Mr. McNealy describes it. For example, in a recent study of the 90% of U.S. Internet users with health insurance, 78% expressed interest in managing benefits through their insurance carrier's web site. And of the 10.3 million Internet users who anticipate changing their health insurance carrier within the next 12 months, 37% indicated that they would be likely to switch carriers in order to manage their benefits online.''
The interview closed when Mr. Nimoy asked Mr. Grehalva to discuss the most persistently nagging issue effecting healthcare information on the Internet, the matter of security. ``While security looms as a top concern, I believe the industry will rise to the need and fulfill the requirements of protecting the confidential information contained in our health records,'' he said.
