temp knowledge is not vital ...
as long as one doesn't object to occasional meltdown ..
I used to watch it closely, but have done it so much that I can tell from the actions when it is too high ...
but, for most, yes, I would recco it ...
Soyo and Abit mbs that I use both have temp monitors, along with adjustable fan speeds, and some other keen thingies ...
I've not gotten so serious as to use the mini refrigerators that cost hundreds of bucks ...
but I do know some folks who have ...

yes .... run three or four boxes during the trading day ...
#1 ==> three 17s **(QCharts, LiveCharts from Quote.com, ... and a few other data places)
#2 ==> two 17s with some more data places ...****(this one is getting ready to be deleted)
#3 ==> single 17 for SI, Yahoo, and other daily sites during trading day ... surfing, etc ...
#4 ==> single 17 for all apps using Excell, Microsoft Office, Quicken, etc ...
#5 ==> single 15 for Interactive Broker trading screen ONLY
#6 ==> single 15 for email ONLY
have two phone ISPs and a cable ISP ..
run virus protect ONLY on boxes 3, 4 and 6
network ONLY 3 and 4
not much redundancy in the stuff on the boxes ...
for example, NO QCharts on any but #1 ...
NO surfing on #4
NONE except their own functions and positively nothing else on #s 5 and 6
don't use any trading software ...
just me ol eyeballs and guts ..... gggggg

it is FUN ...
of course, it is nice to "build one on line" too ... like at Dell, CyberPower, SYS , etc ... I've done that in the past also... |
