A friend of mine was a postdoc in the Lodish lab. Made me want to take a "wait and see" attitude, given that SNPs had become commodity and that other business plans were aimed at better SNP utility.

Easy to give the justification for my decision, now that it looks good. Had no concept that things would get this bad. January 2000, it looked like -- based on relative valuations -- the bargain among "genomics" companies. But SNP mining went generic, soon thereafter.
