San Francisco Mayor Brown Takes 2000 Stock Hit, Paper Says By Juliann Walsh
San Francisco, April 4 (Bloomberg) -- San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown estimated the value of his stock portfolio fell to under $200,000 from about $1 million in the past year, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
Some stocks he bought and sold within a few days, and others he held on to through steep declines, the paper said, citing his annual financial disclosure statement filed with the Ethics Commission.
Brown's portfolio has included JDS Uniphase Corp., Juniper Networks Inc., Sun Microsystems Inc., Cisco Systems Inc., AOL Time Warner Inc., Pfizer Inc. and International Business Machines Corp. While United Parcel Service Inc. probably held up the best, his worst investments were now-defunct E-Toys Inc. and McData Corp., the paper said.
``Don't mention it, please,'' Brown, 67, told the paper. ''I hope I don't die before I get even.''
