you mentioned nav. one thing you should try right away is your norton rescue disks. they contain critical information your computer needs to start and run properly. hopefully you have created these disks and updated them periodically.

if you've made zip rescue disks, you can boot into windows and make emergency repairs. if you have created the floppy rescue disks, you can still start up DOS and there will be an easy-to-use interface for recovering from the blue screen.
