I tracked and tried to calculate ASP using the PW data for a couple quarters last year. Typically, I applied a discount of 10 to 20% to the listed price (distributor and retailer profit) and also a variety of speed weightings (equal to # of entries, #entry ^2, etc.) and all of my results were considerably higher than the reported ASP.

The missing piece is likely the OEM and the likely skewing of demand towards lower cost CPUs. There may be a lot of offers in the high-end but what is the depth of demand?
