you might be more "creditworthy" than you think. i apply and apply and apply. sometimes i run into brick walls and can't get cards for awhile. other times they all loosen up and the cards fly in. if you can factor ego out of the equation and just keep at the work, it can be a lucrative endeavor. see i don't think they are really evaluating "creditworthiness". often their acceptance or denial has as much to do with their portfolio, i.e. their business objectives at a given juncture. like other public companies, they have to make their numbers. another thing you can observe that is as rates decline, and therefore their cost of funds decline, they become more willing to do the deals.
