I don't know and I am not sure this is the billings that I follow, it does not say that.. this low seasonal cycle is actually making a much higher low, whereas SOX was at 720 last year this time the sales have been little better than last year.. please check your sources.. thoroughly.. <Semiconductor sales fell in February. The month-to-month percentage was 6.9%, only partially driven by the usual seasonal slowdown. On a seasonally-adjusted basis, the sequential decline was 2.6%-- the sixth consecutive falloff.
The slowdown has impacted all global regions. The Americas market had the most severe decline in February, but the Asian region, excluding Japan, has been just as weak over the past three months.
Capacity growth has already decelerated sharply. In the first three quarters of 2000, capacity was 20% higher than one year ago, on a weekly wafer-starts basis. Nonetheless, since improvements in design and manufacturing technology have boosted wafer yields, supply growth closer to 30% to 35% is expected over the next year.>
