Vari-L Company Announces Appointment Of Ernest Hafersat as Vice President of Manufacturing

DENVER, Apr 5, 2001 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Vari-L Company, Inc. (OTC: VARL), a leading provider of advanced components for the wireless telecommunications industry, today announced the appointment of Ernest C. Hafersat as Vice President of Manufacturing.
Mr. Hafersat brings to Vari-L more than 22 years of senior management level experience in high technology manufacturing, operations, engineering, quality control, and materials management in venues ranging from the United States to the Far East.

Mr. Hafersat's experience includes seven years with disk storage manufacturer Maxtor Corporation, where he served in various management capacities, including Senior Director of Engineering, responsible for new product development, firmware, electrical, mechanical engineering and testing to meet requirements for key strategic customer introductions. Another recent assignment was with Read-Rite Corporation, a manufacturer of magnetic recording components for the hard drive industry located in Penang, Malaysia and the Philippines. As acting Vice President and General Manager/Senior Director of Operations, Engineering & Materials at Read-Rite, he was responsible for 4,500 labor personnel and all aspects of a manufacturing operation that produced up to six million units per quarter for various strategic disk drive customers.
Mr. Hafersat's previous assignments included positions as Senior Manager of Engineering with Exabyte Corporation, Director of Manufacturing with Optotech Inc., Director of Manufacturing Engineering with Kennedy Corporation, and Manager of Manufacturing/Industrial/Cost Engineering with IBM-MCA Joint Venture (Discovision).
