When I think of NYC and California this summer two memories always pop up.

1. The overloading of the power lines in the Bronx? during a recent heat wave that shut down that section of the grid.

2. In a wealthy section of Detroit, folks refused to heed warnings to conserve power during a heat wave. They literally MELTED their transformer stations and were without power for over a day during one of the hottest days of the year.

Should have a lot more memories like this in five months.
