Trident Technologies Holds SeaPatch and ProMag Workshops for Congress and State Legislators
FORT WORTH, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 5, 2001--21st Century Technologies Inc. (OTCBB:TEXN) today announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Trident Technologies Inc., will be holding a number of workshops. These workshops will be held with members of Congress, state legislators and their staff, featuring the patented SeaPatch and ProMag technologies for oil spill, port authorities, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Navy and haz-mat (hazardous materials) applications.
The SeaPatch has been certified by the American Bureau of Shipping. SeaPatch and ProMag both have been accepted into the Beneficial Environment Projects program. Currently nine states have joined the program, which provides that environmental fines will be reduced if a company agrees to allow a portion of the money to be put into a fund that will be used to purchase "mitigation devices" such as SeaPatch and ProMag.
Both SeaPatch and ProMag were accepted into the program as a result of being "a project that reduces the generation of pollution through source reduction."
During the 1990s there have been oil spills in Alaska, California, Oregon, Washington and British Columbia coastal waters with disastrous environmental consequences. Studies show that one in every 100 vessels (both foreign flag and U.S. flag) entering U.S. ports reports steering or propulsion failures.
It is also predicted that vessel traffic into U.S. ports will triple in the next two decades. These studies demonstrate the national importance of evaluating existing laws to make sure that participants on the federal, state and international levels are all fully aware of mitigation devices such as SeaPatch and ProMag when legislating new spillage laws.
As a leader in "mitigation devices," Trident believes its workshops will focus attention on mandating its devices on all vessel traffic entering U.S. ports.
Under the international law of the sea, the United States may impose pollution discharge rules that are more stringent than existing international standards on all vessels navigating within the U.S. territorial sea (which extends 12 nautical miles seaward).
More importantly, "mitigation devices" such as SeaPatch and ProMag should be mandated as on-board devices necessary for an effective spill contingency plan. These workshop sessions will be the subject of further news releases along with text presentations and legislative proposals.
