I find it unusual though that the scan of the author's Linux machine seems to indicate the presence of NetBus (a Windows trojan). Seems to be a few discrepancies but I've only glanced the article over briefly so far.

Edit: nmap is a wickedly powerful scanner, I've got v2.53 on my firewall. Check out the manpage for it's array of capabilities, I've only scratched the surface on that one. For plain vanilla TCP scanning I quite like fscan (foundstone.com).
