The conception, even for those who are relatively centrist, is too different. Take my argument with Nadine, who is not a dope by any means, and with whom I have had cordial discussions. She kept pushing for the need of wholesale regulation of the health care sector, and I kept arguing for targeted relief. In her mind, fairness can only be accomplished if we sit on the profiteering corporations and address every complaint. To me, the market is sufficient, and one only need supplement against actual hardship. There is no good compromise between the cartelization of an economic sector and government operating as the "insurer of last resort"........
