Let's not go overboard. The circulation of The American Spectator went from 28,000 to 300,000 on the strength of its Clinton exposes; mainstream papers like the Los Angeles Times broke stories on his scandals, as did mainstream magazines like Newsweek; and the Washington Post ran enough damaging articles and critical opinion pieces that my grandmother accused it of being right- wing. There was no fanatical support by a monolithic press.......
