Rumors like the LU one get started in all types of markets, bear and bull. There have been "rumors" of Cisco missing their quarter for the last three years, if not more. Nobody ever mentions all of the fraudulent "take-over" rumors that are started. Shorts and others start bankruptcy rumors, while longs start takeover rumors. It's all part of the market.
