Not true. A low winged aircraft such as a P3 have the blind spot under the wing. I sudden bank could initiate a collision if the fighter was right under the wing.
The fighter, being the faster more manueverable aircraft should have stayed clear. Then again, if the fighter was in "slow-flight" it's manuverability would have been greatly diminished. In a nose high attitude. Increasing it's underneath blindspot.
