Edwin, I'm afraid I'm not following your logic here.

Why would you need a gig of flash? I'm not talking about professionals here, but consumers. How many rolls do you use before you have them developed? For most people it is one or two. Most people have trouble filling-up a roll.

So, you need one or two flash cartridges.

With these cameras, you do not have to pay for your mistakes. You can view the pictures on an LCD display immediately, and erase the ones you don't like. You can re-use the memory for another shot.

BTW, check out the Kodak DC120, I believe it meets your requirements and then some. Resolution is 1280x960. It's $999, but then that's where the first digital cameras started - the ones that are under $200 now.
