Earlie, please explain something to me; why should the government "employment numbers" to be released this morning be of any importance? These stats cover only "legal" workers and here in N Georgia (carpet and poultry plucking capital) most "new" workers are "illegal" and hence undocumented. When these people are laid off (or simply dismissed)they DO NOT go down to the State unemployment office and "sign up", heck most feel that they can't and that if they do they may be deported. Most employers take advantage of this fear of the "federales" to keep their "bargain" workers away from any reporting (or regulatory) agency and to keep the wage rate low (minimum wage or under).

This state of affairs has really been on a tear since 1995 (Due to decreased enforcement by INS) though the tendency has been evident here for at least 20 years. There are some counties here in N GA that probably are majority hispanic though recent census data doesn't show it.

What this does is allow for an UNLIMITED supply of low wage workers and employers here (and in other places I know of) take full advantage. Now what does this do for the economy, the stock mkt, ect? One thing of which I am sure; THERE GOV EMPLOYMENT NUMBERS ARE PHONY!
